WE THE PEOPLE

The people’s house is no more.

Oh, the structure still stands,

It’s East Wing destroyed.

It rose garden paved over.

Its grounds defaced.

It is no longer democracy’s safe space.

No woman, nor child yet protected.

Hidden files of pedophilia and rape

Keep Republican representatives

Of the people away.

No chance to obstruct

as we fearfully watch all we love destruct.

Money directed from its appropriated place

Into the pockets of the man in disgrace,

Who crowns himself king,

And demands all kiss his ring.

Our right to rule ourselves now firmly displaced

By cruelty and hate,

absent a single moment of grace.

There are no longer two sides.

None of us are left with any pride.

We the people now have no place.

Unless we stand together to fight

The destruction of freedoms that are our constitutional right.

REMEMBER MARTHA STEWART ?

Photo by RDNE Stock project on Pexels.com

Martha Stewart was full of ideas.

They were  all “a good thing”.

And then she told one lie

to the F.B.I.

Martha Stewart roused no hate.

Martha  Stewart was not a saint.

Nor are you nor I.

But she did not steal nuclear info,

plans of defense and attack during war,

or national secrets meant to restore

safety and security forevermore.

She did not pose a threat

to those who now protect

every city, state and shore.

She did not place in question

our entire nation’s protection.

She told one lie and admitted her fault.

Off to prison she went and never balked.

Five months in prison, five months confined

at home, and a $30,000 fine.

Now, tell me why, for the love of country

why he cannot go to prison for repeatedly

telling lies and stealing a nation’s secrets

and threatening to destroy our nation

and its ability to stay safe and strong?

Do we have a king and not a man?

Have we misunderstood this all along?

His title was MISTER President; not

your highness. Have you forgot?

Does he have a rule that never ends?

What is he then?

Better than a common criminal?

Better than you or me?

Better than keeping our nation free?

Better than a democracy

of the people, by the people, for the people?

Tell me who we are, then.

If not a people who rule themselves

subject only to the rule of law.

Never subject to a criminal who shelves

the safety of our nation in a bathroom,

ballroom, or resort.

I await your retort.

Stop the nonsense that he cannot be jailed.

Of course he can, and so could we

if we engaged in such perfidy.

SEARCHING MAR-a-LAGO

Photo by Jacob Morch on Pexels.com

What will seized papers show

of secrets only a few could know?

Would Russia have invadedUkraine

for what President Trump thought to gain

if he served President Zelensky on a golden plate?

That is his way, as we all know,

never enough gold his greed to satiate.

What cabal operated amidst the Oval Office din

across Foggy Bottom from Russia then back again?

What criminal enterprises are hidden in the folds

of papers boxed away in Mar-a-Lago?

The “Right to Know” answers to such questions

Is the National Archives most sacred treasure,

and the people must know every measure

of every step taken at government’s direction.

Archives exist for our most basic protection

as a free people in a free nation.

JANUARY 6 INVESTIGATIVE COMMITTEE 12/28/2021

Secrets erode our fall from earth.

Heaven is too far to know

from whence we came

and how far we have fallen.

No one really knows

if truth be told.

That is a matter of faith

unsure

Unstable

unstoppable

like earth’s wobble

through endless space.

Despite the gravity of the situation,

or because of gravity,

still we fall

deeper into unknowing,

reliant on faith.

Perhaps senseless,

or at best clueless

until the secrets are told

and we able to behold

the truth

HOLY COMMUNION

HOLY COMMUNION

Louise Annarino

2-26-2012

One role of government is to secure the safety of its populace. Government attorneys prosecute criminals. Individuals do not. Individuals may bring a civil claim for the injuries they personally sustained as a result of a criminal act. The criminal act is defined by city, state, county, or federal law. Government Prosecutors bring criminal charges on behalf of their entire communities. Crime is consider an offense not just against individuals; but, against the entire community. We have been told that the Occupy Movement, representing the 99% of the community, is dangerous to the community and must be shut down.

“Now here’s something astonishing. While the camp was in existence, crime went down 19 percent <http://www.ktvu.com/news/news/emails-exchanged-between-oakland-opd-reveal-tensio/nGMkF/> in Oakland, a statistic the city was careful to conceal. “It may be counter to our statement that the Occupy movement is negatively impacting crime in Oakland,” the police chief wrote to the mayor in an email that local news station KTVU later obtained and released to little fanfare. Pay attention: Occupy was so powerful a force for nonviolence that it was already solving Oakland’s chronic crime and violence problems just by giving people hope and meals and solidarity and conversation.”

Why? Human beings are social beings who seek close and meaningful ties to one another. We are not hatched from eggs; we come from the womb of another human being and yearn the rest of our lives for such intimacy with another human being. Even E.T. just wanted to go home. We all want to go home, to the place where we are heard, understood and accepted. This is why young people form gangs, fraternities and sororities, clubs, and Facebook friends. This is why we Tweet, and blog. We seek communion.

The Occupy Movement is a study in communion. It is a sacred act of humbling the self for the good of the whole. What can it teach us about reducing crime? It teaches us that meeting the basic needs of food and shelter, offering a safe haven for ideas and creative output, listening and responding to others’ fears and concerns, and acting to restore justice and mercy can heal a city; can reduce crime.

My First Holy Communion seemed magical. I dressed like a bride; even wore a veil circled with fragrant flowers. My heart sang a new melody when the Host dissolved on my tongue. I connected with God, the God whose Son humbled himself for the good of the whole. I understand communion. I understand what happened in Oakland. The Occupy Movement is a sacred act. Supporting the 99%, as President Obama does every day, is a religious act, a sacred act. Politics get dirty. The Occupy Camps get dirty. Life gets dirty; ask any kid who knows how to play it. Dirt does not make sacred acts less holy. “Ashes to ashes; dust to dust”; we all simply want to get dirty, and go home.
