DECONSTRUCTION

Columbus, Ohio 10-18-2025

The streets were lined for blocks on end.

Signs reminded all who rejoiced to attend

Why they walked and talked and smiled and waved

At passing cars who braved delays

While drivers honked horns and shouted out

“Vote him out and make it a rout!”

Costumed critters danced to our delight

Knowing their freedom would give him a fright.

Deconstruct the lies we have been told.

Deconstruct the narrative being sold.

Deconstruct the bullie’s hold.

Deconstruct institutional mold.

Gather in peace the young and the old.

Stronger are you, more wise, more bold.

Deconstruct so we can rebuild

What he has destroyed with his minions’ lack of skill.

We know how to do this, and more.

We have done it many times before.

My thanks to my friends in Clintonville area of Columbus who helped me attend this moment of patriots’ challenge to the con men robbing the USA of its power, wealth, ideals and humanity. The lack of media coverage was appalling. The misrepresentation of attendance numbers cannot be challenged when media fails to provide images of the gatherings. A local station covered it AFTER it was over and crowds had dispersed. Another stated hundreds attended when it was actually thousands. We are here. We are resisting. We are going nowhere until the despotism and kidnapping of people and the Supreme Court, universities, news organizations, social media outlets, medical and public health Institutions… even our very language and the meaning of words and phrases has been brought to an end and freedom restored.

We shall not be silenced.

VOTE BLUE

This blue earth,

this place of our birth,

grounds us against flight

from this tiny iron rock

hurtling through the dark.

And so, we hold on tight,

bathed in blue light,

sun reflected off ocean’s face,

keeping us in place.

We are cleansed by earth’s air,

a clear and free atmosphere.

We breathe in and then out,

Each breath removes any doubt

that we are of this world, in this place.

We hurtle through darkest space

on this earth, this hard rock

with all its hard knocks.

It is not our imagination.

The gravity of our situation

keeps us awake at night.

We are blue light

against a dark sky.

Help earth and its people survive.

Help keep freedom alive.

VOTE BLUE!

REMAINING ON STAGE

Crickets on the hearth,

Spiders in the bed,

push early-morning risers

to live out their dread

of hurricanes and floods

and myriad disasters;

reminding us we are mere humans

and the joke of the universe’s laughter.

Perhaps, that is why some few stay

and refuse to be subdued,

pretending they control the stage

lifting a finger in Mother Nature’s face.

And we imagine they are me and you.

As the curtain comes down

the audience leaves,

except for the very few.

And laughter dies, as seas and rivers

overcome their bounds and flow anew.

SUMMER

Photo by Hassan OUAJBIR on Pexels.com

Summer wears her heart on her sleeve.

Her false smiles and beguiling ways

encourages all to believe

that she is available to play flirtatious games.

But, know that Summer will always have her way.

She drags us away from kitchens, desks

and comfy chairs out into her garden on display.

She allows us to become more aware

of her silken charms directed our way.

Droughts and cloudbursts,

sun that brightens and burns our skin,

Allergens and particulates that settle within

make it hard to breathe in her presence.

Her insects sting and guilelessly bite

while Summer’s flower-perfumed essence

awakens and entreats our most intimate senses.

It would be so easy to love Summer. She puts us to the test

against Autumn, Winter and Spring as to whom we love best.

Summer has become a little too free for me.

I prefer a season who holds back her charms

and grants me shy glimpses which raise no alarms.

As Earth heats Summer’s gaze, subtlety fades  away.

Summer has become almost too bold,

too sure of her dominance, too unsafe

to simply play our Summers away.

THE LAST DANCE

Photo by Markus Spiske on Pexels.com

When does thought supersede Being?

When the heart’s speed deviates

from Rhythm’s universal beat

which sets the pace of Space

with certain duration and periodic stress.

We think we know best

and reset Rhythm  and increase stress.

Too soon upset Rhythm brings cessation

instead of renewable creation.

Wind warns us in no uncertain terms

as she increases the beat of her storms.

With greater force Wind pounds her beat

against every shore, her reverberation so strong

Wind pulls Ocean up and along

where Wind’s new beat covers the skies

with Oceans cries, drowning our own.

The rhythm of Being streams in downloaded scenes

of mountains buckling under Tempo’s fall

while Desert spreads where Tree once danced

in the stately rhythm of ages past.

Discordant sound is now all around.

Too many simply turn up the sound.

After the last dance who will there still Be

to turn the lights back on so we can see?

When does thought supersede greed?

REMEMBER THOU ARE DUST

Call the sun names.

Carry buckets of coal.

Bring shovels to bury the dead.

Careful, now, how you tread

on the burnt offerings

of now fallow fields

and forests turned desserts.

Take to the sea.

In sheltered ports linger

to avoid the worst storms.

Set sail in steaming waters

which no longer cool

temperatures nor tempers,

and boil over onto shores

of discontent.

Remember thou are dust

and to dust thou shall return.

We are over-heated earth.

We are worsening storms,

more violent,

making everlasting wars

within ourselves

and our false borders.

We are both victimizer and victim

of global warming.

We cannot escape

ourselves.

We are dust

and to dust

we shall return.

GLOBAL WARMING

Too bright for the eyes

I could not watch

The sun rise.

and his behind cold lids

a fearful surprise

and dread.

No ribbon at a time

of colorful delight,

but a glaring reminder

all is not right.

The overheated sun

surprises the garden

drenched in snow

risen and fallen

from melting ice fields

in warming seas

I may never see.

The connection

between heat and ice

is broken off the glacier

of frozen hearts

in heated despair.

And we, blinded by glare

of the too-strong sun

are too blind now

To see.
