WRITING SEEMS
A FEEBLE ATTEMPT
TO COUNTER FEELINGS
WITH THOUGHTS,
I FEAR.
BUT, THAT IS THE POINT
WHERE WE
ARE MEANT TO MEET.
NOT IN RATIONAL THOUGHT
WITH FACTS, NOT FICTION;
BUT, IN MUTUAL FEAR
WHERE CONTROL UNWINDS
AND THERE CAN BE
NO MEETING OF MUTIAL MINDS.
THUS, FEELINGS MATTER MORE
THESE DAYS, THAN EVER BEFORE.
FEAR AND LOATHING ARE COMPANIONS
TOO OFTEN USED TO DIVIDE
THOSE CAPABLE OF LOVE.
WORSE, WHEN DESIGNED AND LED
FROM THOSE ABOVE.

Imagine if you will,
everything you see in the MAGA
movement is really still.
Moments framed in space and time
and speeded up at will.
Whose will matters; yours or mine?
Wagons moving forward
we are told but their wheels appear
to travel in reverse.
This wagon wheel illusion
is not just made for movies.
It is made to sow confusion.
The brain’s refresh rate is slower
than the information it is seeing.
It believes it is seeing motion
when the still image is moving more rapidly
than the brain can refresh.
Unmerged refresh rates upend believability.
Under certain lighting conditions
and with other distractions
this effect is more striking
and not to the brain’s liking.
The distracting stroboscopic effect
is not truly an illusion, but a warning.
Our brains try to make sense of the lie
right before our eyes.
Sampling any phenomenon
with the wrong frequency
leads to misinterpretation.
The frame moves faster and faster
and slower brain rates sense a disaster.
Film. Repeat. Film in bright light
to move people to the Right.
Offer more distraction
and the lies seem so real
that we put them on media’s reels
so we think were are moving
forward; but, our country
is moving backward.
We must understand projection
for our own and our country’s protection.
We are seeing under the illusion of confusion.
A political strategy for those untrained
to give this phenomena a name.
Now you know it.
Now you own it.
Now do something about it.

Hard to believe 13 years later we face the same intransigence of Republicans. Only the names have changed. Policies are even more entrenched and courts stacked against the 99%z

Crickets on the hearth,
Spiders in the bed,
push early-morning risers
to live out their dread
of hurricanes and floods
and myriad disasters;
reminding us we are mere humans
and the joke of the universe’s laughter.
Perhaps, that is why some few stay
and refuse to be subdued,
pretending they control the stage
lifting a finger in Mother Nature’s face.
And we imagine they are me and you.
As the curtain comes down
the audience leaves,
except for the very few.
And laughter dies, as seas and rivers
overcome their bounds and flow anew.

Men say there are nine muses
all female,
all source,
all inspiration
behind man’s creation.
I alone amuse myself,
a female
well enough,
tough enough
wise enough
behind my own creation.
We females are funny that way.
We have no time
to while away,
nor our egos sway,
where power games lay.
We do not play.
We females amuse ourselves
as we go on life’s way
to build lives better,
to make peace surer,
to allay furor
which gets in the way.
We find joy in every day.
We bring joy
to every girl and boy,
to every woman and man,
to all we can,
smiling all the way.
Men may need nine muses.
Women are happy to be
all nine at every time,
in every way,
on every day.
We women do not play.
