SNOW FALL

The world is falling apart, its people deranged.

War and famine join as climates change.

People are on the move to escape the pain.

Water cleanses in blasts and depths unseen.

We wade through facts, the truth unseen.

Snow starts in the upper atmosphere.

Warm air below alters snow

unless we remain cool

where heated skies collide

and moisture tears up in our eyes.

Watching the snowfall gives us hope.

It blankets ugliness’ scope falling on all of us with equal glaze.

Snow reminds us of our better selves and better days.

Spring warmth is gentle like our souls.

It melts the snow so flowers may grow

within the gardens of our hearts.

We are in the midst of a great change.

Unsettled as Spring weather

we must remember we go through this change together.

And those of us who garden will share the bounty of what we sow

with all who are willing to enter

our gates, their needs in tow.

The old world is dying with every angry breath.

Snow in Spring reminds us there is new life after death.

DARKER DAYS

Photo by David Bartus on Pexels.com

I no longer wait through the night for sun to rise.

Darkness diverts stray thoughts and lets my mind play.

Flowers have taught me to wave away sunny days

whose glare overcomes the true color of all it covers.

Flowers’ colors are brighter on cloudy days

when sun’s harshest, boldest gaze

is tempered by drifting clouds and shade.

The sun arouses, but not always in positive ways.

Passion and love arouse in darkness, under cover,

preparing us to live together on sun-filled days

which can overheat our passion with a challenging gaze,

and guns drawn out in furious blaze.

Night brings safety after those last shots are fired

into the night to hold it at bay, for those who tire

of being alone, hopeless and afraid; whose souls require

less sun to stimulate their hate and more cool nights

to bed down and draw covers over their endless fright.

I welcome the night which offers respite and insight.

I welcome dreams which bring truth and understanding alight.

If only we could recall our dreams in daylight,

perhaps we could create world where justice and mercy prevails

and all are treated right.

On the the hotter, brighter days ahead I fear we may fail,

holding on to what we cannot truly see in such bright daylight.

In such over-heated light true color is lost to our sight

distorting our view of all that is true.

Shoving microphones and spotlights on our frailty

too often distorts our reality

until we no longer can recall the truths learned on darkest days.

I no longer wish the darkness of night away.

I see all more clearly in the muted light of night

than ever I can see in brightest daylight.

I no longer wait through the night for sun to rise.

Darker days are here to no one’s surprise.

They may bring the only way we can survive.

GOOD MORNING WORLD

Early morning risers know the scent of dew.

See it split into rainbows

as the dawn shines through.

Notice buds held tight through the night

loosen their hold on night’s dreams,

as day’s stories unfold, yet to be written.

Early morning risers are smitten

and blessed by a world newly dressed.

Ready to face the world reborn,

with souls un-torn by yesterday’s stress.

Bathed in cool light ,filling every cell’s space,

with grace and delight alight on their face.

Good morning, world!

I am here.

I still live.

I am ready to give.

Good morning world!

The Lost Soul,by Louise Annarino,2-14-2014

The Lost Soul

There is no place of safety;

no where to run or hide.

I buried pride a long time ago

beneath the snow of cold hearts,

torn apart by fearful rhetoric

and unsung praise,

a dire malaise that yearns

for all it can learn

of love despite the risk

of loss. I would toss out

the loud mouth lout

who risks discovery of

my presence,and stay silent

if I could,but I cannot

stifle the scream of words

held in check lest they

terrify and distract

from the solution to

dark pollution of a soul.

Where is the Light?

Where is the Peace?

Where is the God

who created the innocence

now lost,perhaps forever?

War changes all.
